Members of the Month Burbank Park District & Humana Guidance Center  Burbank Park District ...has been in existence for over 50 years.  Originally the park district was a part of the Stickney Township and became the Burbank Park District as we know it with the Incorporation of Burbank in 1970.  Bill Olsen is the Executive Director and Scott Piwowarczyk is the Recreational Director.  Both are very involved with the Chamber and support all of our events.  The Park District has 12 parks covering over 130 acres and began with George W. Harr Park named after the 1st Burbank Fire Chief and Rice Park named after Mr. Rice, a former resident of Burbank.  Mr. Rice sold the property to the City for $1 per acre with the aggreement that the property would always be used for recreational use only.  The Park currently employs 7 full time positions, 14 part time and 110 seasonal.  You can count on the Burbank Park District for a diversity of programs and events.  The Independence Day Celebration will be held this year on July 3rd from 4:30 p.m. ending with a fantastic Firework display at 9:30 p.m.   For all the details call 708/599-2070 or visit www.burbankparkdistrict.org.
